The launching ceremony of the university-aided Rural Revitalization Action was held in Hehong Village of Meilin Sub-district, Ninghai County on the morning of April 10.
Ten universities or colleges in Ningbo, including Ningbo University, Ningbo University of Technology, and Ningbo Childhood Education College, signed agreements with rural party organizations and started cooperation with rural revitalization and prosperity bases in all districts (or counties).
In addition, 44 rural revitalization projects in Ninghai County were released at the event site, such as the agricultural, cultural and tourist operation project in Nanzhuang Village of Yuexi Township, the traditional Chinese medicine planting project in Wang’ai Mountain area of Chalu Town, and the development and utilization project of low mountain and gentle slope land and forest land in Chayuan Town, covering such fields as aquaculture, cultural and creative research and development, agricultural, cultural and tourist operation, and talent community construction. In future, teachers and students of the 10 universities or colleges will be deeply involved in the implementation of these projects.
It is reported that as of now, a total of 10 universities or colleges in Ningbo have established rural revitalization research institutes or rural colleges, eight universities have offered agricultural disciplines, and four agricultural majors, like aquaculture, have been selected as first-class undergraduate majors of the country. The matrix of universities serving rural revitalization in the city has taken shape.
Teachers and students from universities or colleges in Ningbo have long been continuously involved in the revitalization of rural industries, culture, ecology, and organizations, and many achievements have been implemented.
“We can see that universities, as the source of technological innovation and the main battlefield for talent cultivation, are the ‘source of vitality’ that activates the driving force of rural development,” said a related person in charge from Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
“The key to rural revitalization lies in the revitalization of talents and industries.” said the related person in charge. The Rural Revitalization Alliance of Universities will continue to transform the “innovation flow” of universities into “economic increment” in rural areas, and deepen the practice of the “Thousand and Ten Million Project” of Ningbo in the new era.
